Not often, but every once in a while I get a little burnt out on this whole "comic" thing. I'll have days of comedic writer's block, when even Carlos Mencia seems mildly humorous, or I'll spend 20 minutes trying to draw something really simple before I get anything that actually looks good, and even that is sometimes debatable.
There are a couple of things that really help me put my head down and power through those moments of doubt. One of which is my blog statistics. I have a couple of utilities that keep track of how many people read my blog on any given day, the majority of which are usually visitors from Mueller's blog, since he tends to link to this site more often than Arrested Development won critical acclaim.
The other thing that gives me motivation to keep at it is when people leave comments on my blog. I figure if somebody takes the time to actually type in a comment, then they must have enjoyed it a little bit more than the average item they find on the web.
Apparently, this motivation boost is a two way street. In case you don't read the comments people leave on my blog (and you should, Mueller usually leaves a smattering of hilarious links), last week yielded a fair share of good ones. There was one I found particularly interesting:
"Matthew Johnson said... Your comics make my Tuesdays worth living :-)

Wow. With responsibility like that - I really have no choice but to keep saving people's lives.

Thanks for reading everybody.

keep at em man. you're like an inspiration for me. you're doing all the cool things i wish i was doing!
Thinly veiled attempt to get more comments. I will not play into your little plan. Shit.
Fooled you Ross. At least Johnny likes me.
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
Yeah, so there, you're not gonna get me a- ...awww dammit all.
I would comment more often, but it would get repetitive:
"Oh Wheezy, I love your comics! You're so great! Oh oh, I can't stop laughing!"
See, wouldn't that get old fast? ;)
Maybe for other people... ;)
I hate you and your comics suck! Have a spectacular Monday!
Yeah, I like to read these when I am on the road, and out of porn...

Another good one. I myself have tiptoed the edge only to be brought back by a D-Wheezy original.
I'm sure you've seen this already (being a big time animator and all) but just in case have some pixar goodness.

Don't thank me, thank my RSS reader.
Also, ross, there's another version... fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me... fool me thrice, and I'll break your fucking leg.
I almost didn't comment on this one because you said "Carlos Mencia seems mildly humorous." Bwhaaa? Fortunately there are 12 comments already, so I have something to work with.
Here's a link to Ross' quote since he was apparently too lazy to YouTube it. Also, here is the link from Kevin since he didn't use HTML tags.
Matt Johnson's <3 always confuses me. I think we once had a discussion as to what that is. I'm pretty sure its a heart, but it might be some crazy short codpiece. I'm not sure.
Well, that didn't take as long as I thought. I guess I can go on a tangent. Since watching the first 2 seasons of AD (I haven't even made it to the 3rd yet!), I have been thinking about what they did wrong. Probably, they should have just let Tobais do magic. He was freaking awesome in that clip ripping Fox. Probably the difference.
Welcome to Wheezy's comment board. AKA Matt's mini-blog.
Those News Radio clips with David Cross are great. I used to watch that show all the time. I had no idea he was on it. You should have posted this clip
Also, re: the <3

yup, it's a little codpiece.
Looks like my "thinly veiled attempt" worked wonders. Thanks for all the comments folks - good stuff. Glad to see I at least have friends who will fake liking what I do.
Except for Brandon apparently - to whom I reply with this.
And Ross, I already linked that video. In my post. This post. That you've commented on three times.
I still love ya though.
Oh yeah. And as for Carlos Mencia, I doubt he actually wrote that commercial. The guys at Bud Light wrote it, then thought "who could we get to do this commercial for little to no money that is well known for some absurd reason." I guess Carrot Top was busy pretending to be Shaun White.
Thing is I rarely click on the links you and Matt sprinkle throughout your blogs.
It's like people standing on the street corner trying to hand out pamphlets. If I clicked on every link I came across I'd die trying to finish the internet.
However when you embed the video or image right in front of my face BAM! there it is. Kinda like if those people handing out pamphlets did something like this instead, I'd stop and pay attention.
I just lost approximately 7 minutes of my life to your link Ross.
And I have no problem with that.
who made that ross. jake was in it.
Ahaha Wheezy, that clip is great.
Ben, Jake is out there on the internets. That's like the third time I've randomly come across him.
Wheezy, you've successfully incorporated two of my least favorite comedians into one comment. Well done sir.
Ross, I'm disappointed you don't click on all of my/Wheezy's links (although, this is why I incorporated the italicized links into my posts so you know which ones you really should watch). It can take some time to work through the links, but they are usually worth it.
That said, in an effort to not freak you out any further, I have not incorporated any links into this comment.
In further Wheezy love: I love the alumni comic! Well done. I have tried to get Spomer to bring back that particular competition to no avail. I would urge you to share it here, but I realize that the humor is fairly JDE/IT specific.
I too don't click your/MM's link. I'll admit that I usually read them at work, but I draw the line at watching videos at work.
Todd S just shared your blog with all the team managers so expect some more viewers... ^_~
Well I'm sorry to hear that my carefully planned links aren't really utilized all that often. I guess I can understand since you're at work and all.
Although if Todd just shared my blog with a bunch of NI team managers... who's to say what's right or wrong these days when it comes to videos at work.
I'll make sure and mark the ones that aren't safe.
